Dallas ranked No. 24 in sustainability study

The city of Dallas has been ranked No. 24 nationally among most sustainable cities by a Web site promoting sustainable living in the U.S.
In Texas, Austin (ranked 14) and San Antonio (ranked 21) finished ahead of Dallas. El Paso was No. 31, Houston No. 39, Arlington No. 41 and Fort Worth, No. 46.
Portland, Ore., was ranked most sustainable, and Columbus, Ohio, was ranked least sustainable.
The 2006 SustainLane U.S. City Rankings combined data and information from surveys and interviews and included 15 individual category rankings.
Sustainability generally refers to environmentally sensitive practices. The SustainLane ranking criteria include clean air, clean water, use of renewable energy, traffic congestion, public transportation, city planning and land use.
