Houston lands at No. 39 in sustainability survey

Houston has been ranked No. 39 nationally among most sustainable cities by a Web site promoting sustainable living in the United States.
In Texas, Austin ranked 14th, San Antonio ranked 21st and Dallas ranked 24th. El Paso was No. 31, Houston No. 39, Arlington No. 41 and Fort Worth, No. 46.
Portland, Ore., was ranked most sustainable, and Columbus, Ohio, was ranked least sustainable.
The 2006 SustainLane U.S. City Rankings, which ranked 50 cities, combined data and information from surveys and interviews and included 15 individual category rankings.
