Soaring gas prices. War and bloodshed in major oil-producing nations. Federal foot-dragging on alternative energy. Though we've had an energy crisis on our hands for a while, SustainLane.com, an online guide to green living, argues that the tipping point comes at $100 a barrel. And depending on where you live, when that oil hits the fan you might want to pull up stakes and find a new place to call home. The Web-based collective compiled a list of the top 10 U.S. cities best prepared to weather such prices. The study looked at accessibility to public transportation, availability of locally grown food, and wireless capabilities for telecommuting. New York City came out on top, followed by Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, Portland, Honolulu, Seattle, Baltimore, and Oakland, California.
