SustainLane Government
October 16, 2006 2:11 PM
Our friends at SustainLane.com have just launched a new online sustainability resource and knowledge base for government officials and their contractors called SustainLane Government (sustainlane.us). The site is an open-source, searchable repository for information and network-building on sustainability issues including green building, energy/ energy efficiency, climate change policy, local food systems, transportation, materials management and overall sustainability management.
The ticket of admission for government users and their entire government entity: submit one valid best practice. Yes, all of Chicago city employees and their contractors can have unlimited access of the site for the year because they have already submitted a best practice document ("Expediting Green Building Permitting").
SustainLane sees this as an evolution in internet collaboration and peer knowledge-sharing, that will enable cross-disciplinary innovation for solving community challenges. They're also debuting the new site today at the Growing Greener Cities event in Philadelphia at U. Penn in conjunction with PBS Series Edens Lost and Found.
